What is SIP Calculator?

SIP Calculator estimates how much a monthly Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) in mutual funds could grow to. Enter your monthly amount, expected annual return and number of years to see the total invested, estimated gains and final value — plus a year-by-year growth table.

Switch to lump sum to see how a one-time investment grows, or add an annual step-up to model increasing your SIP every year as your income rises. Results are estimates based on a constant return; real mutual fund returns vary with the market.

How to use SIP Calculator

Get it done in 4 simple steps — no installation or account needed.

  1. Choose SIP or Lump sum.
  2. Enter the monthly (or one-time) amount, expected annual return and investment period.
  3. Optionally add an annual step-up to increase your SIP each year.
  4. Review the estimated value, gains and the yearly table.

How SIP Calculator calculates results

FV = P × [((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i)

  • P is the monthly investment, i is the monthly rate (annual return ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of months. Investments are assumed at the start of each month, as most Indian mutual fund calculators do.
  • With step-up, the monthly amount increases by the chosen percentage at the start of every new year, and each month’s investment is compounded separately.
  • Lump sum uses FV = P × (1 + r)ᵗ with annual compounding, where r is the annual return and t the number of years.
  • Real returns vary month to month; the calculator assumes a constant return and ignores expense ratios, exit loads and taxes such as LTCG.

Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. These results are estimates for planning only and are not investment advice or a guarantee of returns.

SIP Calculator — frequently asked questions

What return should I assume?

Many people use 10–12% a year for long-term equity funds and 6–8% for debt funds, but past returns don’t guarantee future returns. Try a few rates to see a range.

What is a step-up SIP?

A step-up (or top-up) SIP increases your monthly investment by a fixed percentage every year — for example 10% — usually in line with salary growth.

Are SIP returns guaranteed?

No. Mutual fund returns depend on the market. This calculator assumes a constant annual return, so treat the result as an estimate, not a promise.
