What is Image Converter?

Image Converter changes images from one format to another — PNG to JPG, JPG to WebP, WebP to PNG and many more combinations. It also reads GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG files, converting them into widely supported formats.

Pick the target format, adjust quality, and choose a background color for transparent images going to JPG. Conversion happens privately in your browser with no uploads and no limits.

How to use Image Converter

Get it done in 4 simple steps — no installation or account needed.

  1. Drop your images onto the upload area — mixed formats are fine.
  2. Choose the format to convert to: JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. Adjust the quality, or the background color when converting transparent images to JPG.
  4. Download each converted file or grab them all as a ZIP.

Limitations & supported browsers

Works in the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari (Mac, iPhone and iPad) and Samsung Internet. Because processing happens on your device, speed and maximum file size depend on your device’s memory.

  • Output formats are JPG, PNG and WebP. AVIF and HEIC can be read (in browsers that support them) but not created.
  • Animated GIF and WebP files become a single still image.
  • SVG files are converted at their built-in size; resize them afterwards if you need a larger image.
  • Safari can’t create WebP images; WebP output is saved as JPG there.

Image Converter — frequently asked questions

How do I convert WebP to JPG?

Drop the WebP file here, select JPG, and download. Set the background color if the image has transparent areas.

Which format is best for the web?

WebP gives the smallest files at good quality and is supported by all modern browsers. Use PNG for graphics needing perfect sharpness.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is stored on our side.

What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose (white by default).
