What is Mic Test?
Mic Test checks whether your microphone is working in seconds. Allow microphone access and speak — a live level meter and waveform show the sound your mic picks up. Switch between microphones to find the right one, and record a short clip to hear exactly how you sound to others.

Limitations & supported browsers
Works in the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari (Mac, iPhone and iPad) and Samsung Internet. Because processing happens on your device, speed and maximum file size depend on your device’s memory.
- Your browser asks for microphone permission. If you previously blocked it, click the lock icon in the address bar to allow it again.
- Microphone names may only appear after you grant permission.

Mic Test — frequently asked questions
Why isn’t my microphone working?
Common causes: browser permission blocked (click the lock icon in the address bar), the wrong input selected, a hardware mute switch, or another app using the mic. On Windows, also check Settings → Privacy → Microphone.
Is my voice recorded?
Only if you click Record, and then only in your browser’s memory so you can play it back. Nothing is uploaded or saved.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is stored on our side.
