What is EMI / Loan Calculator?
EMI / Loan Calculator shows the monthly installment (EMI) for any loan, along with the total interest and the total amount you’ll repay. A visual breakdown compares principal with interest, and a yearly amortization schedule shows how your balance falls over time.
Use it to compare home loan, car loan, personal loan or education loan offers before you sign. It supports rupees, dollars, euros, pounds and dirhams, and calculations update instantly as you change the numbers.
How to use EMI / Loan Calculator
Get it done in 4 simple steps — no installation or account needed.
- Enter the loan amount.
- Enter the annual interest rate offered by the lender.
- Enter the tenure and choose years or months.
- Read your monthly EMI and open the yearly schedule to see principal and interest paid each year.
How EMI / Loan Calculator calculates results
EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1)
- P is the loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of monthly installments.
- This is the reducing-balance method used by banks for home, car, personal and education loans: interest is charged each month only on the outstanding balance, so the interest part of each EMI falls over time while the principal part rises.
- Some lenders quote a flat rate, where interest is charged on the full original amount for the whole tenure. A flat rate costs much more than the same reducing-balance rate — always ask which one you are being offered.
- At 0% interest, EMI is simply the loan amount divided by the number of months.
- The yearly schedule adds up 12 monthly payments per year; amounts are rounded for display, so totals can differ by a rupee or cent from your lender’s statement.
- Not included: processing fees, GST on fees, insurance, prepayment charges, and changes to floating rates during the loan.
Results are estimates for planning and comparison only and are not financial advice or a loan offer. Your lender’s sanction letter and repayment schedule are the final word.

EMI / Loan Calculator — frequently asked questions
How can I reduce my EMI?
Choose a longer tenure, make a larger down payment, or negotiate a lower interest rate. A longer tenure lowers EMI but increases total interest paid.
Does this include processing fees or insurance?
No. It calculates principal and interest only. Add fees and insurance separately to get the full cost of the loan.
What formula is used?
EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1), where P is principal, r is the monthly rate and n is the number of months.
