Password Generator — frequently asked questions
How long should my password be?
At least 12–16 random characters for important accounts. A passphrase of 5–6 random words is also very strong and easier to remember.
Are passphrases secure?
Yes, when the words are chosen randomly. Six random words give about 56 bits of entropy, and adding a number pushes it higher.
Is it safe to generate passwords online?
Yes, here. Passwords are created locally with crypto.getRandomValues and are never sent anywhere.
