What is Image Resizer?

Image Resizer changes the dimensions of your images to an exact width and height in pixels, or scales them by a percentage. Lock the aspect ratio to avoid stretching, resize many images in one go, and choose the output format and quality.

Use it to prepare photos for social media, passport and application forms, website banners or email. Resizing runs on your device in the browser, so your pictures stay private.

How to use Image Resizer

Get it done in 4 simple steps — no installation or account needed.

  1. Add one or more images. The original dimensions of the first image are shown.
  2. Choose “By pixels” and enter a width or height, or choose “By percentage” and use the slider.
  3. Keep the lock enabled to preserve proportions, and pick an output format if needed.
  4. Click “Resize images” and download the results.

Limitations & supported browsers

Works in the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari (Mac, iPhone and iPad) and Samsung Internet. Because processing happens on your device, speed and maximum file size depend on your device’s memory.

  • Enlarging an image beyond its original size can’t add detail and may look soft.
  • Animated GIFs become a single still image, and photo metadata is removed.
  • Safari can’t create WebP images; WebP output is saved as JPG there.

Image Resizer — frequently asked questions

What size should I use for social media?

Common sizes: Instagram post 1080×1080, Instagram story 1080×1920, YouTube thumbnail 1280×720, LinkedIn post 1200×627.

Can I resize to an exact size without keeping proportions?

Yes. Unlock the aspect-ratio button and enter both width and height. The image will be stretched to fit exactly.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is stored on our side.

Will resizing reduce quality?

Downscaling keeps images sharp. Upscaling beyond the original size can look soft because new detail can’t be invented.
