What is Online Timer?
Online Timer is a simple countdown timer with an alarm. Tap a preset — 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 25, 30 or 60 minutes — or type any hours, minutes and seconds, and press Start. A big, easy-to-read display counts down, and an alarm sounds until you stop it.
Use it for cooking, workouts, exams, presentations, classroom activities or quick focus sessions. The timer keeps accurate time even in a background tab, shows the remaining time in the tab title, can add an extra minute on the fly, and goes fullscreen for a projector or TV.
How to use Online Timer
Get it done in 4 simple steps — no installation or account needed.
- Click a preset like 5 min, or enter hours, minutes and seconds.
- Press Start (or the space bar). The countdown begins immediately.
- Pause, add a minute or reset at any time; use fullscreen for a bigger display.
- When time is up, the alarm rings — press Stop to silence it.
Limitations & supported browsers
Works in the latest Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari (Mac, iPhone and iPad) and Samsung Internet. Because processing happens on your device, speed and maximum file size depend on your device’s memory.
- Keep the tab open — closing it stops the timer. Some phones pause web pages when the screen locks.
- The alarm needs sound to be allowed for this site and your device not to be muted.

Online Timer — frequently asked questions
Can I set a timer by URL?
Yes. Add ?m= to the address, e.g. /tools/online-timer/?m=10 opens a 10-minute timer ready to start. You can bookmark it.
Why didn’t the alarm make a sound?
Check that the tab is open, your device isn’t muted and the browser allows sound for this site. Some phones pause pages when the screen locks.
Will the timer work if I switch tabs?
Yes. It tracks the real end time, so it stays accurate in a background tab, and the tab title shows the remaining time. Keep the tab open for the alarm to sound.
